Each product sold by Sari Bari represents a story of new life, with the freedom of a woman from one of Kolkata’s red-light areas stitched into its layers.

Each Sari Bari cotton bag is made of three to five layers of saris, which are hand-stitched together to make the body of the bag. Each section of the bag is then machine sewn. Bag size will vary depending on bag design.

Cotton bag care instructions: Hand wash cold, line dry. If the bag has a bamboo handle, please do not soak.

We also offer jute tote bags, which are made by friends of Sari Bari who also work for the cause of freedom for women in Kolkata's red light districts. In Sari Bari fashion, they each have vintage sari pieces sewn on the front, back, and handles. They make excellent reusable shopping bags, or could also be used as a gift bag for your favorite Sari Bari purchase! The bags measure 15.5" wide x 14" tall x7" deep. Each has a unique sari piece, and we'll surprise you with our choice!
