Be an Advocate

Be Informed
Learn as much as you can about trafficking—how it happens and who is vulnerable—by reading books, watching documentaries and news clips and doing internet searches.
Be Aware
Learn how you may be benefiting from injustice and take action. For example, you can choose to purchase fairly traded products and a support companies who have fair labor practices and policies both in the United States and around the world.
Take a Stand
Industries that demoralize women and exploit any human being should be stopped. By coming against them, you help to break the cycle of supply and demand that must exist in order for an industry such as human trafficking to be a lucrative activity.
Raise Awareness
Share what you learn with friends and family; sponsor an event to raise awareness in your community or at your church or school.
Advocate
Contact your elected officials and encourage them to sponsor and support legislation that deals with trafficking and related crimes. Support organizations that are on the frontlines of today’s abolition movement. Purchase products made by survivors.
Note: Sari Bari is an advocate for trafficking prevention in India and around the world. However, we are not directly involved in prevention. Rather, we are committed to transitional and aftercare for women who have been trafficked. We want to provide an alternative employment opportunity for those looking for a way out of prostitution. We hope you will join both of these battles and become an advocate for those who yet to find themselves at the door of a brothel and a supporter of the many projects that support and assist the women who are coming out of a life of bondage.
